The branches of the bush were dried in the sun and then cut into small pieces. The export of tea to distant countries began in the early 19th century and has continued to grow to this day. The result was the cultivation of a bush that was previously exclusively wild. A high-quality rooibos tea can be recognized by its ruby-red color and its mild, sweet flavor, which is typically aromatic.
